Prairie Pointe
Construction is well underway at the striking new Prairie Pointe high-rise condo and town home development at 1600 S. Prairie Avenue, Chicago. Located in the city’s Central Station area, Prairie Pointe represents part the redevelopment of a once-industrial site, now being transformed into an upscale urban neighborhood. Central Station is close to the Loop business and financial district, and within walking distance of the lakefront, Grant Park, Museum Campus, Soldier Field, Burnham Harbor, and McCormick Place exposition center. Prairie Avenue itself has long been occupied by Victorian-style brownstone homes, many now renovated and lending the area a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere.
Prairie Pointe combines four-story town homes with a 24-story tower of luxurious condo residences. All buildings in the development are concrete and masonry, and the tower features setbacks to create a number of corner residences on every floor for unobstructed views of the lakefront and surrounding city from private balconies and terraces. Buyers can select from a variety of floor plans that include one-bedroom/one- and 1.5 baths to two-bedroom/two- and 2.5 baths. Living and dining rooms provide hardwood flooring, with a choice of hardwood or ceramic in the kitchens, as well as a choice of finishes of kitchen cabinetry. Master bedroom suites are carpeted and come with walk-in closets with organizers, as well as baths with soaking tubs and separate, glass-enclosed showers fitted with cultured marble surrounds and finishes.
Some residences provide separate and spacious living, dining, and family rooms. Most have a gas fireplace with a marble hearth and surround for quiet evenings at home. All units are designed with open floor plans to take advantage of the sweeping views from floor-to-ceiling windows. The tower is pre-wired for cable TV and telephone service.
All residents will appreciate an elegantly-appointed lobby, round-the-clock doorman, entertainment room, business and conference centers, fitness center, and sun deck with a whirlpool spa. Secure, indoor parking is also available.
Though the Prairie Pointe town homes sold out quickly, residences are still available in the tower. Prices range from approximately $280,000 to close to $1 million.
