Printer’s Corner
The 16-story, 88-unit Printer’s Corner high-rise condo is one of few new residential buildings going up in one of Chicago’s most historic downtown neighborhoods. Located at 171 W. Polk in the Printer’s Row district of the South Loop, Printer’s Corner is being built next door to the massive industrial structures that once housed primarily printing companies, long-since renovated into coveted lofts and apartments. Printer’s Corner is designed to blend into the neighborhood, featuring red face brick trimmed with stone on its first five floors. The ground floor provides 7,000 square feet of retail space, and floors two through four are reserved for parking. The remaining eleven-story tower is all residential, and has been carefully designed with an asymmetrical footprint with deep set-backs, so that all eight units on each floor are corner units.
Inside, the condo units are styled to blend the traditional and ultra-modern. Each residence has oak hardwood flooring in living rooms, carpeting in the bedrooms, and crown molding throughout. Units are available from one-bedroom/one-bath to three-bedroom/3.5 baths, all with spacious balconies. Ten-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows take advantage of cityscape views. Kitchens feature granite counter tops, stainless appliances, and a choice of high-quality cabinetry. Bathrooms are finished with ceramic or marble, with a whirlpool bath in the master suite of the larger units. Built into all units is a “tech center,” with multimedia wiring, a desk, and upper cabinets. In addition, every Printer’s Corner living room features a 42" plasma television. All residents have access to a secure lobby separate from the retail space, private storage, garage parking, and a bicycle room.
Printer’s Row is a well-established area just south of Chicago’s Loop financial and business district, and only blocks from the Sears Tower. World-class shopping, dining, and entertainment–including Chicago’s Lyric Opera–are within walking distance. Worth noting is the annual Printer’s Row Book Fair, co-sponsored by the nearby Chicago Public Library. The summer event draws authors, publishers and booksellers from all over the world, and is staged under canopies in the streets of Printer’s Row. In addition, the city’s lakefront and Museum campus are only minutes away.
