IKON
The vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood of Northern Williamsburg is about to get even more exciting. In spring, 2006 the first residents will be able to move into Ikon, a stunning new building located at 50 Bayard Street.
When designing Ikon, the architects and designers considered what it truly means to be an icon. The answer they kept returning to was “time enduring beauty and strength.” Using this phrase as their inspiration, they came up with a building that combines both traditional and modern elements of style. They took a warehouse building and converted it, adding four glass enclosed floors in the process. The end result is a residence that unites various periods of structural design into one modern masterpiece.
Each of the 58 luxury condominium homes features a modern, open floor plan. The interior finishes are a combination of wood, tile, and glass. All of the units are different, yet all are impeccably tasteful.
The construction of the Ikon has created excitement in the area, as it demonstrates a new trend in the demand for housing in Brooklyn. In May 2005, New York City announced a plan to rezone Brooklyn’s northeast waterfront, allowing the development of high-rise residential buildings and a 27-acre riverfront park. Housing experts believe that the plan could make Northern Williamsburg the fasting growing luxury housing market in all five boroughs.
